Abstract Authorship

The number of authors is limited to 12 per abstract. The submitting author will receive all communication related to the abstract. 

Each author can send maximum 

  • 1 oral presentation
  • 1 medical or surgical case presentation
  • 1 short communication / free paper
  • 1 course
  • 1 poster
  • 2 videos
  • 2 photos


The submission system will not allow submission of more than these.

Presentation Types

The maximum words number per abstract is 400.

No table and figure is allowed for abstracts, except for abstracts that are submitted specifically as photo presentation. 

  1. Oral Presentation (The submission system will not allow the submission of more than 1 oral presentation per each Author) 


Abstracts will be evaluated for presentation in the main hall as 5-minutes presentation. Each oral presentation not selected for the main room, will be automatically evaluated as poster or short communication to be displayed in the parallel room.

Oral presentations will be held in main hall on scheduled date and time. 

Please pay attention to the details below:

  • Allotted time is 5 minutes for each oral presentation. We recommended to avoid long and well-known introductions in order to reach the result and take-home message in time.
  • To prevent possible technical problems which might cause delays in the program, each presenter will be required to upload the talk in advance to the Speakers Ready Room at least 3 hours prior to the session.
  • Personal computers will not be allowed. 

  1. Medical case presentation (Maximum 1 per Author)

Extraordinary medical cases will be submitted with maximum 5 slides defining the case.  The allocated time will be 2-minutes. These cases will be displayed either in the main or in the parallel room.

  1. Surgical case Presentation (Maximum 1 per Author)

Extraordinary surgical cases will be submitted with maximum 5  slides defining the case The allocated time will be 2-minutes. These cases will be displayed either in the main or in the parallel room.

  1. Short communications / free paper (Maximum 1 per Author)

A 3-minutes time will be dedicated to short communication on free subjects of surgical retina, medical retina and imaging. The short communications will be displayed in the parallel room. The guidelines are the same as for Oral Presentation. The best short communication will be selected for 3-minute presentations in the main hall in the main program. Only one short communication for author is allowed.

  1. Courses (Maximum 1 per Author)

Courses will be presented in the parallel room. The course must have a minimum of 1 Chair and a minimum of 3 speakers and should last 45 minutes. 

It is necessary to explain the title and objectives of the course, targeted audience, level (intermediate/advanced), the chairman and the speakers with title of each speaker.

  1. Poster presentation (Maximum 1 poster per Author)

Abstracts submitted to this category will be evaluated for poster presentation only. Posters prepared according to the guidelines below will be displayed on the kiosks during whole congress. Posters will not be discussed during the sessions in the meeting program.

The poster presentation should be composed of maximum 5 pages in pdf file format. The pdf poster must have a vertical format 9:16.

Please submit only the abstract of the poster. The final file should be submitted after the acceptance of the abstract, following the instructions we will provide.

The best 3 posters will be selected and awarded by the jury during the EVRS Talent Show. Therefore, if you submit a poster, you need to make yourself available for the EVRS Talent Show.

  1. Video presentation (Maximum 2 videos per Author)

Abstracts submitted to this category will be evaluated for video presentation only. Videos prepared according to the guideline below will be displayed on the kiosks during whole congress. Videos will not be discussed during the sessions in the meeting program. 

The video should be prepared according to these details:

  • No more than 5 minutes
  • Include voice guidance / narration
  • Accepted format: mp4/mov
  • Should not exceed 1GB 

Please submit only the abstract of the video. The video itself should be submitted after the acceptance of the abstract, following the instructions we will provide.

The best 3 videos will be selected and awarded by the jury during the EVRS Talent Show. Therefore, if you submit a video, you need to make yourself available for the EVRS Talent Show.

The elements to judge a video will be: 

  1. Topic of the video
  2. Technical quality of the video 
  3. Editing
  4. Audio

     

  1. Photo presentation (Maximum 2 photos per Author)

Abstracts submitted to this category will be evaluated for photo presentation only. Photo presentation prepared according to the guidelines below will be displayed on the kiosks during whole congress. Photos will not be discussed during the sessions in the meeting program. 

The photos should be sent as a single slide in a PPT or as a JPEG.

The best 3 photos will be selected and awarded by the jury during the EVRS Talent Show. Therefore, if you submit a photo, you need to make yourself available for the EVRS Talent Show.

Unlike oral presentations, posters and videos which have a scientific content, photos might contain artistic interpretations. 

The elements to judge a photo will be: 

  1. technical aspect
  2. extraordinary content

A short abstract body with the background information of the photo should be sent. 

Abstract Evalutation

Submitted abstracts will be assessed by blind evaluation. The presenting author will be notified through an email. This is expected to occur in June.

By submitting the abstract for 23rd EVRS Meeting, the Authors accept to:

  1. register to the meeting within July 15th
  2. to approve the publication of the abstracts in the EVRS website
  3. to participate to the EVRS Talent Show
